Pariah Pete is an artist who is great at being consistent and this streak continues with the release of his new single “sunkissed” co-written by The Mercuries and produced by both STRAVS and Jacob Unterreiner.
The Mercuries, which share the same name as Pariah’s first full length project, is a band that has been accompanying Pariah for his live shows for some time now and consists of 4 members: drummer Malik Nelson, bassist Gus Campbell, pianist Carly Bates, and guitarist Jacob Unterreiner. This record, Sunkissed, is the first live-band produced track that Pariah and The Mercuries have put out and it sounds amazing.
The final master sounds great and Pariah’s vocals sit comfortably within the production. The smooth rapping that he delivers contains nods to the state from which he originates, Arizona, and he even name drops Buffalo Exchange which is a really cool privately owned thrift store in Arizona. This summer single gives the feeling of cruising around with some friends and does an excellent job of capturing that throwback classic style of rap. The beautifully sung hook also adds to the imagery of just cruising and vibing with the homies described in the lyrics, “come and take a ride with me, sitting in the driver's seat”.
All in all this has me excited to see what Pariah will deliver next with this new found chemistry formed with “The Mercuries”. Definitely give this track “Sunkissed” a listen in the link below!
