The ever so creative Arizona native Tullis returns to the spotlight with a new fire track titled “Self- Conscious.” This record features smooth rap vocals on the verse delivered by Donnie Durag, who is from Brooklyn, and has amazing production done by Tullis’ go to producer Roddy. This is one Tullis’ best rap performances to date and his subject matter, which touches mainly on self-analysis, is very relatable and memorable.

Donnie Durag’s verse adds a great dynamic to the song and he slides on the beat while talking about flexing and working to prove people wrong. The way that Tullis speaks of feeling underrated and how this leads to his feelings of self-consciousness is a very relatable struggle that other independent artists can definitely sympathize with. The constant battle of trying to make a name for yourself by your lonely can be exhausting and banking on getting bigger placements can sometimes feel hopeless which is what Tullis talks about in the hook of the track. Even though it can be difficult to persevere without receiving these affirmations, I believe that the flip side to this track titled “self-conscious” is essentially to stay self aware of one’s value and skills because this is something that cannot be taken away no matter what other people’s judgment may be.
