The history of Danny Orange as a musical artist dates all the way back to 2018 with the release of his first few singles and a full length EP on Soundcloud. Over time, his frequent releases on soundcloud show the evolution and progression of his vocal abilities along with his production skills, which ultimately led up to his first release on all platforms titled “Expensive”. This song was actually my first introduction to Danny’s music and I have been tuned in ever since then, which is why I am excited to see that he is back with the release of his first project available on all platforms titled “Fun While it Lasted”.

This 7 song project includes the two lead up singles, “way back 2 you” and “say it twice”, along with 5 new tracks that provide context to the project in its full form. These two songs definitely set the tone for what the theme of this project would be, which is even more clear now that we are able to see the full picture. These tracks narrate how he and the love interest that he talks about end up going their separate ways which leads Danny to experience growth in many aspects of his life.

After listening to the project in its entirety it is clear to see that Danny has honed in on this lane of indie pop music and has really found his sound. With playing guitar being one of his strong suits, it is understandable why there is prominent use of this instrument on the production for all the songs. It’s cool to see that Danny is doing all of the production for the songs, because it clearly allows for him to have much more creative freedom when creating. One of my favorite moments on this project was the song “voicemail” with the use of high pitch singing in the hook and the clever line towards the beginning that goes, “Still don't know where my head is. Thinking about ooo damn you wish that I said it. When I'm with you.” That honestly has to be my favorite lines from him and there are many more one liner gems all throughout this project as well. The song “girlfriends” is also a notable highlight of the project with amazing sounding vocals on the intro delivered by frazier. The gentle tamber of her voice sounds so good with the guitar and fits really well when layered with Danny’s vocals.

Overall I just love the way that Danny Orange brands himself and conveys relatable emotions through the records that he is clearly being vulnerable on. The simple aesthetic he presents himself with really compliments the style of music that he has released on this latest project. I can't wait to see what creative direction he takes things from here because Danny is a very talented artist. Listen to this new project “Fun While it Lasted” linked below.
